Yesterday at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival, I saw a caterpillar of the Black Swallowtail (Papilio Ployxenes) happily munching on a large potted dill plant. The display garden was designed by Anthony Paola of Rain Bird Corp. to highlight sustainable, water wise ways to grow herbs and vegetables. With the use of pots and raised beds the garden was attracting a vast array of wildlife: butterflies, bees, tiny wasps, boat-tailed and common grackles, sparrows, a mama duck, and a pregnant squirrel making a nest in the garden’s live oak tree.
